The 70's Sound

When I listen to Marvin Gaye and the similar, I hear the melancholia that comes from an only partially successful social revolution. Much of the 70's has that vibe. Or perhaps this is a reading, much as gypsy music as a melancholia to diatonic ears, when to the native ear it is festive.
